Growing up, she was immersed in the world of healthcare, with her father, an oncology surgeon, and her mother, a nurse. Allison was fascinated watching her father care for his patients, and began following him on rounds starting at age six. Inspired by his compassionate care, she later worked in medical offices, physical therapy centers and hospitals. Then, as a burn survivor and after sustaining a closed head brain injury just two years later, Allison suddenly saw what life was like on the other side of the stethoscope.
